How to Block Websites With Notepad

Follow these steps:

1. Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
2. Open the file named “hosts” with Notepad
3. At the end of the line Add the following line:
4. 127.0.0.1 www.facebook.com
5. Click save or Ctrl+S
6. Now go to www.facebook.com,you will see an error
7. Here i have only blocked www.facebook.com ,but you can block multiple sites
8. You can add another site on the next line as 127.0.0.1 www.orkut.com
9. ie as :

127.0.0.1 www.facebook.com
127.0.0.1 www.orkut.com

 

Wow Does it work

When you add www.facebook.com on the hosts file,This will tell
Windows that all domain name resolution requests for www.facebook.com should be
handled by the local machine instead of your configured DNS

How to Unblock these sites

Just delete the sites from the “hosts” file
