Blackberry as a modem in your computer


One of the functions of the BlackBerry is that it can be used as a modem in your PC / laptop. Blackberry as a modem internet connection on your PC / laptop using your APN (APN blackberry.net can not use), so that will be charged an additional operator APN. But if we use GSM cards have unlimited package in it, then we need not worry the bill will swell
Here’s how to set the Blackberry as a modem on a laptop or PC with OS Windows XP / VISTA :

  1. Desktop Manager (DM) that is installed on your PC / laptop at least version 4. How to check is to open your Desktop Manager – Help – General. You can download here
  2. Connect your Blackberry with your PC / laptop using a USB cable. Then open the Desktop Manager from your PC / laptop. (Note: Blackberry as a modem only
  3. DM can be executed if executed)
  4. Make sure Modem Driver function. From a PC / laptop, click Settings – Control panel – Phone and Modems Options.
In the Modems tab, you will see a new Standard Modem on a new port (eg COM 3, 6 or COM COM 11).

Then click on Properties – Diagnostics – Query Modem and
will look like one of the following :

ATQ0V1E0 – OK
AT GMM – BlackBerry IPmodem
AT FCLASS =? – OK
AT # CLS =? – OK
AT GCI? – OK
AT GCI =? – OK
ATI1 – Research In Motion / BlackBerry IPmodem
ATI2 – Research In Motion / BlackBerry IPmodem
ATI3 – Research In Motion / BlackBerry IPmodem
ATI4 – Research In Motion / BlackBerry IPmodem
ATI5 – Research In Motion / BlackBerry IPmodem
ATI6 – Research In Motion / BlackBerry IPmodem
then click Properties – Advanced and add the Extra initialization as follows:
AT cgdcont = 1, “IP”, “internet”
ADD A NEW Internet Connection

Close the Phone and Modem Options and Control Panel. Create a new connection in the following manner :
  1. Click Start – Connect to – Show all connections – Create a new connection – Next
  2. Select “Connect To The Internet” – Next
  3. Select “Set up my connection manually” – Next
  4. Select “Connect using a dial-up modem” – Next.
  5. Check mark on the Standard Modem (if prompted).
  6. Give the connection a name by name such as “BlackBerry Modem”, click Next.
  7. On the next screen select the following telephone number, enter the phone no: * 99 *** 1 # or * 99 # (in accordance with the provider in use)
  8. Click Next. Empty user name and password
  9. Click Finish.

Then please try browsing the Internet using the new connection is made above
If using Bluetooth:
  • First pairing
  • Such follow step 3 above and beyond.
